Choosing a Hair Salon in Marbella: A Local's Guide

Marbella has no shortage of hair salons — walk down any street in the centre or along the Golden Mile and you'll pass a dozen. So what actually separates a good one from a great one, especially if you're new to the area or just tired of guessing?  Here's what we think matters, based on years of working with clients whose hair has to survive sun, sea salt, chlorine and a lot of humidity — not exactly gentle conditions. 

1. Color expertise built for this climate Coastal conditions fade color faster than almost anywhere else. A stylist who only trains in a studio, without accounting for what sun and salt do to hair, will give you a beautiful result that doesn't last. Ask how they adjust color formulas and aftercare specifically for beach and pool exposure — the answer tells you a lot. 

2. What's actually in the products Not all salons are transparent about the product lines they use. At Umeo Marbella, we work exclusively with Aveda's plant-based system — partly for the results, partly because we'd rather not put anything unnecessary on hair that's already dealing with sun exposure. If a salon can't tell you what's in their color or their treatments, that's worth noting. 

3. A team that speaks your language — literally Marbella's client base is genuinely international — Spanish, British, Irish, Dutch, German, Scandinavian, and more. A consultation where you can't quite explain what you want (or understand what the stylist is suggesting) rarely ends well. Our team communicates in English, Turkish and Spanish for exactly this reason. 

4. A real consultation, every time A rushed five-minute chat before a color appointment isn't a consultation. 5. Experience across more than one market A stylist who has only ever worked in one city has only seen one type of hair, one climate, one set of trends. Emre's background — more than 25 years across Istanbul, London and Marbella — means the salon's approach has been tested against very different conditions and client expectations, not just Marbella's.
